Security, Privacy & Marketing Information Policy
Boston Briefcase Company is highly sensitive to the security and privacy interests of consumers and believes that the protection of those interests is one of its most significant responsibilities. In acknowledgment of its obligations, Boston Briefcase Company would like to make you aware of the following security technology and privacy policies used thoughout our site and for individual transactions in particular.
- Shared SSL Technology. Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is a protocol that provides encrypted communications on the Internet. This is used primarily for financial transactions that take place over the Internet. Boston Briefcase Company uses Shared SSL secure Web server access when transmitting vital consumer information to and from our business partners or our own server. In addition, security measures are used by our business partners to securely authorize payments and complete transactions.
- Acquisition of Information. We do not acquire any more information about consumers than is required by law or is otherwise necessary to provide a high level of service efficiently and securely.
- Our Employees and Privacy. We train all of our employees about the importance of privacy. We give access to information about consumers only to those employees who require it to perform their jobs.
- Security Measures. We make access to privacy-sensitive information subject to rigorous procedural and technological controls, consistent with legal requirements and the demands of customer service.
- Disclosure to Third Parties. We will provide individually-identifiable information about consumers to third parties only if we are compelled to do so by order of a duly-empowered governmental authority, we have the express permission of the consumer, or it is necessary to process transactions and provide our services.
- Privacy and Our Business Partners. When we make our technology or services available to business partners, we will not share with them any more consumer information than is necessary, and we will make every reasonable effort to assure, by contract or otherwise, that they use our technology and services in a manner that is consistent with this Security Policy.
- Marketing. We control all of our own email, direct mail and online marketing campaigns. We do maintain an opt-in customer database, for the purposes of sharing information with our customers on upcomming sales events and information that is of interest to them. We DO NOT automatically subscribe every customer to these lists. You must sign up for one of them throughout your site visit, and you may be removed from the lists at anytime, for any reason, at your request. For security purposes, our opt-in customer database is not kept on the same server as our website. They are purposely physically and electronically disconnected. We DO NOT and will not sell customer information or share it with other marketers- ever! Furthermore, you will not recieve a phone solicitation from Boston Briefcase Company- ever! The only phone contact you will receive from us is upon your request, or in regard to an existing order.
